Resource Persons

Mark Roques  will present "Practice of worldview thinking" and conduct a faculty development workshop at the Seoul event.

Mark is a great storyteller who has spent many years in education. For eleven years he taught Philosophy & Religious Studies at Prior Park College where he developed a unique Christian worldview course that combined film, music, story-telling and subversive role plays. He is passionate about salt-water crocodiles, philosophy and football. He is a tutor for the West Yorkshire School of Christian Studies, Leeds, England.

Jay Shim served as a resource person at the IAPCHE faculty enrichment programs in Bangalore, India and Manila, Philippines. His next dream was to organize a program for Christian college faculty in Korea. Jay will present "Biblical foundation for Christian education," "Principles of Christian scholarship," and a workshop on  types of Christian education at the FEP.

Before coming to Dordt College (USA), Jay was dean of research and professor of theology at Cheonan University in Seoul.

Pray for the organizers, presenters, and participants

The original idea for this event was to share the vision of a wholistic approach of Christian education, which was recently planted in the hearts of leaders of VESA (Volunteers for Establishing South Asia University). Since IAPCHE and VESA both seek to enrich Christian leadership for the purpose of establishing or strengthening Christian universities internationally, the two organizations came together to organize the Seoul FEP.

According to Shim, the participants are broadly evangelical, connecting orthodox/conservative confessions with a genuine desire for Kingdom service. Many of the participants have not heard about a Reformational approach to Christian education. Kuyper, Dooyeweerd, "integration of faith and learning," and even "worldview," may sound foreign to many Korean participants.
