He will begin a permanent position at ICS in 2003. In 1991-92, he was Visiting Fellow at the Calvin College Center for Christian Scholarship. Doug has published widely on Christian schooling and other topics, co-authoring and editing A vision with a task (Baker, 1993), Humans being (NICE/ACS, 1996) and ReMINDing: Renewing the mind in learning (CSAC 1998).

Cor Vander Horn is a minister in the Presbyterian Church of Victoria. The emphasis of his congregation’s ministry is spiritual outreach and growth among young people. His church is planning student outreach at the nearby campus of Victoria University of Technology, running in conjunction with the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students. His spiritual home is the Reformed Church of Australia. His interest in Reformational philosophy was first generated through Dr. Duncan Roper, who ran Saturday evening seminars on “Christian Thinking” in the 60s, and through Dr. Henk Vander Laan during his ministry studies at the Reformed Theological College in Geelong, Australia. Cor has been vice-chair of the Association for Christian Higher Education in Australia. This group has recently merged with two other groups with similar aims to become CITE. Their objective is to establish a Christian University in the next few years. Cor is presently studying towards a Master’s in Theology. His thesis subject is The philosophic influence of Francis Bacon and Thomas Reid present in the prolegomena of Charles Hodge’s Systematic Theology, an analysis and evaluation. Cor is married, and has one daughter and three grandchildren.

Dr. Rowland Ward (1945) has been a parish minister of the Presbyterian Church of Eastern Australia (PCEA) since 1976, serving in his hometown of Melbourne since 1981. He is married with five children. He has lectured in Asia and Europe and is the author of some dozen books including a modern English Psalter, modern English texts of the Westminster Confession and Catechisms, and works on history, baptism, spiritual gifts, religious groups in Australia and Genesis 1-11. He is the President of the Christian Institute for Tertiary Education, which is hoping to begin public lectures in 2004. |

Her research focus was “Trends in Indo-U.S. Trade.” In 1969, she joined the faculty of Sarah Tucker College for Women, a college that serves about 2,500 students drawn mostly from economically backward classes. Mercy taught undergraduate courses in Economics from 1969 until 1985, when she became Head of the Department of Post-graduate Economics. Since 1997, she serves as Principal of the Sarah Tucker College. Her career of productive leadership has transformed the ancient college of liberal education into a dynamic center of innovative academic programs. She has published numerous articles on Economics and Planning and a few on Educational Leadership and Quality in Higher Education

She is vice-president of Village Ministry Fellowship which is involved in winning souls for Christ in the un-reached village in Tamil Nadu. For the last seven years she has helped the Diocese in establishing the CSI Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science at Coimbatore. Susheila works as an Interior Decorator, specializing in oil painting and terracotta sculptures. She won an award of “Christian Communication through Art” for her painting “Thirty Silver Coins.” In the capacity of the Project Manager, she coordinated a package of development program for rural, urban, and slum women. She also helped conduct social awareness camps, skill development, literacy programs and health and hygiene camps in 10 villages for a period of six years. |

He graduated from Jakarta Theological Seminary in 1980 with a M.Th. from SEAGST in Jakarta in 1983 and D.Th. from SEAGST in 1996. He was ordained in 1985 in Kalumpang, Mamuju and worked as a pastor in Moria Congregation in Makassar while teaching in Makassar Theological Seminary in the fields of Christian Ethics, Christian Education and Adult Education. From 1987 to 1992, he served as Secretary (Director) to the Department of Education and Formation of The Communion of Churches in Indonesia, member of National Board of Christian Schools Association. From 1993 to 2000 he was Head of Christian Education Commission of the Communion of Churches in Indonesia. Since 1996 he has been a professor of Christian Ethics in Modern Theology in Jakarta Theological Seminary, where he became Principal in 1999. Masuo Miyazaki (1941) is Minister of the Reformed Church in Japan. He is also a lecturer (and a member of the Board of Trustees) at Kobe Reformed Theological Seminary. Born in Kobe, Japan, Masuo graduated from the International Christian University in Tokyo in 1967 (B. A.). In 1970 he graduated from Kobe Reformed Theological Seminary and was ordained as minister of the Reformed Church in Japan. He graduated from the Institute for Christian Studies in Toronto, Canada in 1975 (M. Phil). He has been pastor at Reformed churches in Takarazuka, Kunitachi, Kumamoto and Nada since 1970. In July 2002 he became itinerant minister in the Western Presbytery and lecturer at Kobe Reformed Theological Seminary. Masuo is married and has a 20-year-old son.

Kuk-Won is also involved with the Christian Ethics Movement in Korea and is a board member of IAPCHE, the Korean Hermeneutic Society, Korean Institute for Christian Studies, and the Korean Society of Christian Philosophy. He has published three books and many academic and popular articles.

B. in Literature and B.S. in Business Administration. He earned his M.S. in Marketing Communications from Roosevelt University, Chicago, Illinois and a graduate certificate in Fund Raising Administration from the George Washington University, Washington, D.C. He was a missionary of Philippine Campus Crusade for Christ for 12 years until he founded and directed Lord of the Harvest Resource Ministries, an organization that mobilizes the church to provide the needs of God's workers. He is a co-founder of the Christian Stewardship Association of the Philippines, which trains pastors and missionaries on how to raise the resources they need for their ministries. Bob is a faculty member of the International School of Theology—Asia where he teaches Ministry of Management, Executive Leadership, and the Christian Home courses. He is the founder and president of Messiah International College Foundation, which will be operational in 2004. He is married to Marlyn Del Rosario, Ph.D. and has five sons.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from Harris Memorial College in 1991 and was appointed to local churches to serve as Christian Education deaconess. In 1991-1992 Gladys served as pre-school teacher and deaconess of Higher Ground United Methodist Church; and from 1992 to 1995 she was the Christian Education Director of Talavera United Methodist Church. She has been course facilitator for Christian Education and Youth and Campus Ministries at Wesley Divinity School, as well as lecturer and curriculum writer with UNICEF. She finished her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Since 1998 Gladys is an associate professor at the College of Education, Wesleyan University-Philippines. She is also National President of Deaconess Service, where she oversees the contribution of deaconesses to churches and institutions, which promote and pursue Christian Education ministry.

In 1991, she joined the Asia Graduate School of Theology, finishing her Ed.D. in 1998. Her thesis topic was Social Concern in Christian Education. Lydia loves teaching, and praises the Lord for the privilege of being part of the faculty at the Asian Theological Seminary, where she is currently the Educational department chairperson.

Narciso is ordained under the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches. At present, he serves as University Chaplain of Central Philippine University (CPU), Iloilo City, Philippines and as national president of the Convention Baptist Ministers’ Association. He finished his Bachelor of Theology in 1988 and his Master of Divinity in 1995 from the College of Theology, Central Philippine University. Aside from his chaplaincy work, Jerson has also ministered as a Student Pastor, an Intern and as a full-time Senior Pastor, to churches including Forward Evangelical Church, Jaro Evangelical Church (The First Baptist Church in the Philippines founded by the American Missionaries in 1900), and Calvario Evangelical Church. His ministry at Masbate Baptist Church and Masbate Bible College confirmed that God could use his family in cross- cultural training, and Dennis and Melody have served in the Philippines as missionaries ever since. Dennis is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute (Christian Education), Western Michigan University (B.A.-Secondary Education), Trinity International University (M.A.-Christian Education), and University of San Jose-Recoletos (Doctor of Educational Management). He has served as a national board member of the Philippine Association of Bible and Theological Schools, the Philippine Association for Theological Education by Extension, and the Association of Christian Schools, International-Philippines. He has also been a technical panel member for government recognition of theological degrees for the Philippine Commission on Higher Education, Region VII. Dennis has served at Baptist Theological College in Cebu since 1981 and has held various posts. He is currently professor of Leadership and Christian Education and serves as the Dean of Cebu Graduate School of Theology as well as CFO of the college. Dr. Nordine is a popular speaker at churches and Bible Conferences. He has written two workbooks used in theological extension training and published numerous articles on leadership in the Philippines. He is married and has three children.
CRISTINA DAMASCO-PADOLINA, KEYNOTE SPEAKER Commissioner on Higher Education, Republic of the Philippines Dr. Cristina Damasco-Padolina (1946) was born in Ilocos Sur, Philippines. She was educated in Chemical Engineering at the University of the Philippines and received her M.S. in Chemistry in 1967 at the Ateneo de Manila University. She completed her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin, in 1971. Cristina serves as Commissioner on Higher Education, Republic of the Philippines. She is on secondment from being professor of Chemistry at the University of the Philippines at Los Baños, Laguna. She has been given numerous awards, including the UPLB Outstanding Extension Personnel Service Award in 1993 and the Special Appreciation award given by Maquiling School Inc. in 1995. Cristina is a member of the Advisory Group of the National Health Promotion Committee, and was on the executive board of the Asian Association of Open Universities from 1998 to 2001. She is married to William G. Padolina, and has three children, Isagani, Ibarra, and Linglingay. |

Since 1968 he has been a permanent resident of the USA. He studied at Calvin College in Grand Rapids (USA), and theology and philosophy at the Free University in Amsterdam for six years. He served as pastor in the Canadian Christian Reformed Church and was Director of Advancement and Student Affairs at the Institute for Christian Studies in Toronto. From 1968 to 1999 John taught theology and philosophy at Dordt College. He has attended every international conference of IAPCHE since its inception in 1975, functioned as its executive secretary for six years, was chair of its board for eight years, and presently serves as its North American regional advisor. He recently lectured for six weeks in South Korea and Japan, and is writing a book (tentatively entitled) Faith and Theology: Radical Reorientation.

He has had a lifelong interest in the development of Christian thinking and the orthodox defense of the Christian faith. Wesley moved to Korea in 1965 and worked in a number of engineering jobs until his recent retirement. In his free time he runs an English Christian book service for students, professors and others. He is also involved in beginning and developing the Korea Christian Studies Institute.
