Faith & Learning

Bibliography now online!
On November 14, 2003, the Institute for Christian Studies launched the Faith & Learning Network's bibliography, as well as the ICS library catalogue. The Faith & Learning Network (FLN) is an IAPCHE-supported project to facilitate the distribution of global Christian scholarship. The FLN bibliography currently contains over 1,000 bibliographic citations, with more being entered every week. The records include references to materials which explore or exemplify the role of the Christian faith in academic research. Some of these materials are found in the ICS library, and may be requested through Interlibrary loan (North America only) or Document Delivery services.

In addition to the bibliography, ICS is also placed its library catalogue on the internet. This includes over 25,000 records of material housed at ICS, including several archives and pamphlet files of reformed thinkers such as Dooyeweerd and Vollenhoven.

The catalogue and bibliography are now accessible from the ICS Library & FLN web pages  www.icscanada.edu/library/fln.shtml. There are three search options: full database, ICS Library only, or FLN Bibliography only. Search results include hyperlinks to other works by the same author, or with the same subject. Users may cut and paste records into other programs, and send requests for interlibrary loan or document delivery to the ICS library.

In most cases the material found in the database can be found in the ICS library which will provide all material to IAPCHE members at significantly reduced rates. Books, for example, are delivered anywhere in the world for $9 per item instead of $15. Chapters and articles can be sent as photocopies ($5 for 30 pages and .25 for additional pages) and facsimiles ($10 for 30 pages or less and .25 for additional pages) are also available to IAPCHE members.

In the course of just over one year, we have brought the FLN from a vision to a physical presence on the internet and in our Toronto library. We have solicited hundreds of bibliographic citations to include in the FLN bibliography, and are now able to share them with scholars from Michigan to Korea. We ask for your continued support in this information-sharing endeavour.

Please visit the FLN Bibliography and ICS Catalogue, and send us your requests, comments, or submissions!
